ONGOING: Now through Sunday February 28 – “Beatles Quilt Exhibit at Barns of Rose Hill” 12:00 Noon – 3:00 PM. FREE Event. The country recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Beatles first performance in the United States. On February 9, 1964, a record-setting seventy-three million men, women and children living in America, 45.3% of households with television sets, in 23,240,000 American homes, tuned in to The Ed Sullivan Show. Were you watching, that night?! Inspired by the Beatles is the culmination of what happened when 150 fiber artists from around the world were challenged to each choose a different song by the Beatles and depict it as a 24” x 24” art quilt. The Beatles were prolific; some songs are very familiar, others more obscure. Beatles music is timeless; in listening to it we are transported to the places we were and to the people we were with when the songs were first popular. These fun quilts, not to be confused with the quilts your grannies made, were born from a love of Beatles music and a passion for stitching. Enjoy this trip down memory lane; see if you can guess the songs and remember the lyrics.
